Five Year Old Brains . . .

Ryker continues to amaze (and frustrate) me. He is so ready for school, except the whining that happens more than it should! He was so upset when he couldn't go last year. He loves to read and can't wait until he can figure out what exactly the book says. He's sure trying. It's been a lot of fun watching him learn. Jerrick and Gunnar quiz him all the time about 1+1 and 2+2. Then they jump to 100+100 and occasionally Gunnar will throw in a multiplication problem. Always makes me laugh, especially because Ryker gets so frustrated that he doesn't know the answer. Maybe because he's the fifth I don't stress about all things I did with the older kids. One being - will my kid be so far behind when he goes to school......

This probably won't be the case with Ryker. He said to me today, "Mom, can we order that (butterfly habitat - where you grow a caterpillar into a butterfly), I want to see a chrysalis." Yes, he really did use the word chrysalis. Not sure how he actually remember that word - although they did talk about it in preschool and Jerrick's class had caterpillars. But still . . .

And THEN he says to me, "Mom, do you know what squeeze the lemon is?" I say, "No, what does it mean?" Before I tell you what it means - here is my disclaimer. When a question is posed like this, always assume the worst and don't walk right into the trap. (Even if it's from a 5 year old) Apparently the kids new favorite movie is Get Smart. I've never actually seen the whole movie, only parts, which is very funny, and probably not appropriate for Ryker.... that's where the 'squeeze the lemon' started.

Ryker says, "Mom, squeeze the lemon means that you have to go to the bathroom." "Oh" I say and walk away (only option). Mental note - Ryker seems to remember everything so don't enlighten him more than necessary. So learning can be a great thing, except when they learn things they really shouldn't know - like flipping the double bird at passing cars . . . (still makes me smile - darn kid!)

Girls Camp

Jared and I spent the last week with Monica at girls camp! We had a great time - lots of inch worms, a snake, funny dancing and lyrics by a law enforcement officer, huge beetle bugs, and no cell phone service! We had a great time! Here are a few pictures!

Happy Birthday Boys!

Hard to believe it's birthday time again!! Jerrick and Gunnar celebrated their birthdays in the last two weeks. I thought it might be fun to share a few pictures of them. From my biggest baby to my smallest and both delivered without any drugs (not really by my choice) - they are still my sweet babies!

Jerrick wanted a bike for his birthday and Gunnar wanted a new Nerf gun. Once Jerrick got a new bike, Gunnar changed his mind and decided that he wanted a bike too. So, over the last two weeks, we've picked up two bikes, nerf guns and a couple of frogs. The joys of boys!!
