Updates

All I can say is "WOW" - the last two weeks have been insane!! I guess that's what happens with lots of kids!!

Seizure/Ambulance Ride -

Cannon had a seizure two weeks ago Tuesday while at Bonnie's. I was actually on my way to pick him up and take him to an immunization appointment. Bonnie called, panicked, I was only minutes away. Jaxon and I ran into Bonnie's and found Cannon lethargic and pretty unresponsive. It was beyond scary. We rushed him over to the clinic where we found out he had a fever of 104.3. To complicate everything - he hit his head pretty hard the day before and they were worried about a concussion. The short versions is - we took an ambulance ride. Which really made Cannon mad. The EMT's tried giving Cannon a stuffed animal and he glared at hit, then picked it up and threw it down. It was quite funny. The Tylenol/ibuprofen was starting to take affect and he was getting his spunk back! The ride in was long - luckily after crying for about 45 minutes, Cannon fell asleep. Then the motion sickness took over for me! Riding in the back of a car that you can't really see out of is not my idea of a good time. I kept thinking they didn't need one more person to get sick! We already were traveling with another patient.

We arrived at the hospital (no waiting room!!) - probably the most expensive waiting room skip, but worth it for the peace of mind. Once we were at the hospital - Cannon was fine - of course! He was running around, fell off the swivel chair, hitting his head, climbed on the chairs, tried to make phone calls, basically he was everywhere. They watched him for a few hours and then determined that his seizure was from the spike in fever. At Bonnie's he had woken up, had snack, had a diaper change and never felt hot, so they're sure the spike in fever was the cause. They also let us know his bruise (side of his eye) from his fall, was not in an area to cause concussion. Which was good to know! Never looks good to take your kid to the hospital with a black eye!! Jared followed us into Salt Lake and we laughed about taking another trip into town!! We were all quite stressed - although we're very glad everything worked out fine. They did tell us that Cannon would have a 50% chance of having another one, so we just needed to watch him and if we see his fever start to rise, give him medicine. (Honestly got told this by one doctor - who probably doesn't have kids) - the other doctor who probably has kids - told us that it may happen again - but we may not see it coming, so as long as the seizure doesn't last longer than 5 minutes, we should be good to go!! WOW! So, one more experience to mark in my 'things I never wanted to experience' book!

Vein Surgery

So we turned around on Thursday morning and drove back into Salt Lake for my vein surgery. My varicose veins have been bothering me for years - now that I know there are no more pregnancies - I can get them taken care of. I had the lower leg fixed - they lasered the vein that was bad and took out the vein that was bulging. I looked quite cool for two days with a pink bandage, that looked like a cast on my leg! Gunnar told his teacher at school that they took me into Salt Lake to have my leg cut open and fixed. Interesting perspective!! Gunnar went with us that day, we took him to a pediatrician appointment.

Fevers

Cannon started it - it's now been through Monica, Jaxon and Gunnar. Super high fevers. All three of them have had fevers around 103.5 for days. It would come and go, once we thought they were over it, they would spike another fever. Now they just have these terrible hacking coughs - we took them to the doctor, but they told us it was just a virus and not much they could do. Nothing like waiting out a fever....

Home Run

Jaxon hit a home run at his baseball game on Thursday!! Clear to the back center fence! The bases were loaded, although during batting, the runner on 3rd try to steal home and was tagged out - so it ended up being a triple, but it was awesome! Jaxon's turning into a quite a good baseball player. Taking after his dad!! (his mom doesn't have many baseball skills!!). I did get a black eye once when I was trying to catch the ball - apparently with my face!! Took me a while to get over my fear of the ball!!

T-Ball

Ryker and Jerrick are playing t-ball! Yeah, my favorite sport to coach!! The kids are so much fun! The kids I have on my team are 4 - 6 years old! My favorite was the day we got our jerseys. We're the Royals! (Wanted to be the Dodgers - since I already have lots of Dodgers t-shirts, which makes it nice to find shirts when you have a game) - but hey, blue is blue (at least in my world!!). So, I'm passing out the shirts, and one little boy says, "I don't want to be blue - I want to be red." The other team was red. I talked up the whole being 'blue' and how our team was best . . . but it didn't really work. He kept telling me that he wanted to be red and then said, "Well this suck!" It was so funny!!!!! This little boy is always so animated and keeps me on my toes! Between him and Ryker, t-ball is entertaining!! Ryker likes to whine a lot when he doesn't get the ball (every time) and I've said on numerous occasions - there is NO WHINING in t-ball. Oh, I've had to say there's no crying in t-ball too!!. So much fun and way too many things going on.

Rules According to Ryker

The other day Jerrick came in crying, the neighbor boy had pulled his hair. Ryker was concerned and told me that we needed new rules. So - here are Ryker's rules:
1. No pulling hair.
2. No saying bad words.
3. No pointing the middle finger.
4. No showing your butt or wiener.

So this is one of those posts that probably shouldn't be written..... but a friend posted on facebook, "Who taught Ryker how to flip the double bird?" I'm appalled, embarrassed, post back, "Did he really? Maybe he brother's dared him??" Then another post, "I got the double bird too." From another neighbor. So my thought is to hide under something and pretend this didn't happen. But honestly, if it was someone else's kid, I would be rolling with laughter. When it's your kid, the view is totally different.......

We had a little discussion the other night, which is probably why he listed the rules that he did, EXCEPT - no showing your butt..... I'm really not sure I should ask about this. I'm going to pretend that I have no idea that it is HIGHLY possible, my son (who is not that old) has mooned someone. Now, if you're reading this, you're probably rolling with laughter. Me, not so much!

It only gets better. Tonight, the boys are sent to bed, they say, "Let's have a pee war." (I didn't hear - Jared did. I would have stopped it......) Then we all hear, "AHHHHHHHHHH, you peed on me." So, all the things I thought I would never have to say, "No more pee wars." It's always an adventure at my house!
